Medlock Park
Medlock Park is a hidden gem in Dekalb county near North Decatur. The park itself has lots of baseball fields, however the trails leading from the park make for amazing opportunities for photos in the woods.

Lullwater Creek
Lullwater creek is part of Emory Campus near Clairmont Rd. The creek offers beautiful woodland scenes with a flowing creek as well as a rope bridge.

Popular Spots in Atlanta
The Beltline
The beltline is the main pedestrian/ cyclist path that cuts directly through the heart of Atlanta. It connects a couple of Atlanta landmarks including Piedmont Park, Ponce City Market, and Krog St. The beltline offers cool urban feels along with great leading lines… Typically it’s best to start photos early here since the beltline is so heavily trafficked during the day.

Ponce City Market
Ponce City Market is one of those iconic Atlanta spots… It has a very cool industrial type feel with lots of hard edges and angles. It also offers great leading lines in the area towards the beltline. Photography at Ponce is allowed as long as it doesn’t interfere with customers shopping there. For that reason, it’s typically best to start sessions at PCM early in the day.

Jackson St Bridge
The Jackson St bridge has been so incredibly popular ever since the premiere of the Walking Dead (the iconic cover shot of TWD was taken from the Jackson St bridge). The bridge offers one of the best (if not the best) shot of the Atlanta skyline.

Krog St Tunnel
The Krog St tunnel is one of the most unique locations within the city. The tunnel is full of graffiti with raised pathways and excellent sight lines… Beware of the tunnel during heavy rain though… It has the tendency to flood.

Fernbank
Fernbank is known for it’s amazing natural history and science exhibits, however it is also a fantastic spot for photos. The interior of the building is great with white walls and floors and tons of natural light falling from the large skylights. Behind the building there is Fernbank Forest for some additional unique photos in the woods. Admission is required for access into Fernbank.

Midtown
Midtown Atlanta offers a wonderfully unique urban landscape that is hard to replicate anywhere else in the Southeast. You have lots of leading lines, hard edges, and typically neutral colors making Midtown a very unique spot for photos.

Oakland Cemetery
The Oakland Cemetery is the oldest public park in Atlanta and includes interesting architecture, amazing sight lines, and beautiful textures that you can only find in aged materials… The cemetery is full of old growth hardwood trees and provides the perfect backdrop for the right type of session.

Cator Woolford Gardens
Cator Woolford are one of those hidden gems in the city… Part of the Frasier Center, it does require a fee for usage, however Cator Woolford offers amazing garden views and forested trail access right off of Ponce De Leon Avenue.

Atlanta Botanical Gardens
The Atlanta Botanical Gardens are found in Piedmont Park and offer an amazing variety of different scenes throughout the year. The gardens are separated into two major areas (domestic forest and formal gardens/green house). Because of the variety, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens offer a wonderful range of scenes to work with. Sessions at the gardens are limited to 2 hours with special fees for usage (must be scheduled typically weeks in advance with the gardens).

Roswell Mill is located north of the perimeter and includes a covered bridge, forest trails, a waterfall, and some interesting industrial type backdrops. There is a location fee for sessions at Roswell Mill.

Lake Lanier
Lake Lanier is located around 1 hour northeast of the perimeter off of I-85. The lake is huge with multiple parks (and Lanier Islands) available for photos. Any sessions done at Lanier Islands must be scheduled along with their staff.

Redtop Mountain
Redtop Mountain is located around 45 minutes Northwest of Atlanta off of I-75. It is a large state park with lots of great areas for photos. It includes expansive lake views amount smaller mountains. It’s very similar to Unicoi State Park near Helen GA.

Arabia Mountain
Arabia Mountain is located southwest of Atlanta near Stonecrest. It offers wide expansive views with interesting rock formations and vegetation. Additional photography fees may apply.

Stone Mountain
Stone Mountain is located east of the perimeter and has access to miles of paths (including the famous path leading up the side of the mountain), a lake, covered bridge, and interesting pine forests surrounding the mountain. Sweetwater Creek Park

McDaniel-Tichenor House
The McDaniel-Tichenor house is located in the heart of Monroe, GA (east of Atlanta). The house is one of many plantation style homes available for photography around the state. It has large windows and tall ceilings throughout the antebellum-style two story mansion. Behind the mansion, there is a large front and back lawn that it great for outdoor type photos.
